Life and Career
Majandra Delfino rose to fame in her role as Maria DeLuca on "Roswell" (1999), Majandra moved to the states at the age of 3. Residing in Florida, she excelled in academics, but her interests pointed towards the arts. At the age of 10 she danced in "The Nutcracker" with the Miami Ballet. Besides dance, Majandra also took part in school plays and the community theatre. At the age of 11, her best friend Samantha Gibb, daughter of the Bee Gees' Maurice Gibb, joined an all-girls singing quartet named 'China Doll'. The group specialized in soul-styled pop. After opening for the Bee Gees at a benefit concert at Miami Beach, the girls enjoyed small success. A fews years later both Majandra and Samantha left the group. After singing, Majandra decided to give her acting dreams a shot. Her parents, at first dismayed over their daughters aspirations, gave her a 6-month deadline to test her skills. If all else failed, she would concentrate fully on school. Within months she had secured herself with an agent, and was already landing jobs. She landed her first television series the following summer, playing Tony Danza's daughter on "The Tony Danza Show" (1997). It wasn't until 1999, with the success of "Roswell" that Majandra rose to fan-magazine fame. Her role as the sarcastic Maria DeLuca has sparked many fans all around. Not forgetting her singing talent, you'll see her singing on the show every so often. Next up, it's the big screen, starring with Michael Douglas in the feature film Traffic (2000).

Her acting career began in 1995, when she was 14 years old and living in Miami, Florida. She was granted a six month window by her mother to book an acting gig (a seemingly impossible task in a city with almost no theater or film production). Within three of those six months she was handpicked to star alongside Kathleen Quinlan and Steve Guttenberg in the MGM feature Zeus and Roxanne (1997). Following this, Delfino moved to Los Angeles with her family and soon found herself starring in the successful WB series "Roswell" (1999). On hiatus from "Roswell" (1999), Delfino was cast as a privileged junkie in Steven Soderbergh's Oscar-winning film Traffic (2000). She worked alongside an ensemble of great actors and won an ALMA award and a SAG award for her performance. Delfino continues to explore complex and challenging roles that showcase her versatility, such as her starring role in the much-anticipated independent feature State's Evidence (2006), in which she portrays a disturbed and vulnerable teen who vows to commit suicide on videotape. Delfino accompanied this extremely dark film with the upbeat ABC Family film Celeste in the City (2004) (TV) with Ethan Embry, Nicholas Brendon, and Deborah Gibson.
Delfino began her professional music career in 1999, when her independent debut album "The Sicks" was released. The album was met with rave reviews and sold 12,000 units on-line without the benefit of any advertising budget whatsoever. Majandra toured the country in support of her album, playing live shows in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.
Delfino sang in several Roswell episodes, such as "Viva Las Vegas", "Cry Your Name", and "Behind the Music". In the summer of 2000, Delfino released three songs onto the internet, "Siren", "Bruises" and "Tattoo", and wrote and produced them in association with "Sci-Fi Lullaby".
On October 31, 2001, Delfino released the EP The Sicks on her own label, Dripfeed, without radio or television airplay. Producer/remixer Justin Lassen created an 11-remix suite with Delfino's masters from The Sicks that was never fully released due to red tape.[citation needed]
She also received attention in France, through her duet with French chanteuse RoBERT, entitled Le Prince Bleu D'Arthelius in which she sings both in English and French.
Her second album, Tarte, was released on April 23, 2007, by her own record company, Red Velvet Cake Records, through her Web site www.majandra.com and can now be purchased through iTunes along with The Sicks.
In February 2011, the singer announced, through her Twitter, that she is working on her third studio album, scheduled for a late 2011 release.
